Although certain efforts have been made by researchers about Dwarf Parrots for many years, unfortunately the available data are scarcely limited. The information in the sources about these miniature parrots, which is not common because they die for no reason within a week of being taken into care, varies due to the disagreements of various researchers. What is given here is generally the explanations obtained by various researchers determined about these species.
Dwarf parrots are a subfamily of true parrots. The species close to these are Loriculus, Forpus and Agapornis. Briefly, there are 2 species and about 11 subspecies in this subfamily.
Since they form the smallest group of parrots, their general name is known as Pygmy Parrots. Unfortunately, those who do research in this field have not come to a complete decision about the parrots that will fall into this group. While some identify this family with 4 subfamilies Micropsitta, Bolbopsittacus, Cyclopsitta and Psittaculirostris, another includes only 3 subfamilies, Micropsitta, Cyclopsitta and Psittaculirostris, but another researcher includes only 2 subfamilies Cyclopsitta and Psittaculirostris. We, on the other hand, will try to briefly introduce you to each of the 4 sub-families mentioned in this article.
